Upcoming testing for other tick-borne diseases
Beyond Lyme disease, Canadian ticks can carry over 300 different species of microbes. Of these species, only a subset are associated with diseases in humans. Geneticks is in the process of expanding its diagnostics to include another 9 species of pathogens associated with human diseases. These pathogens are:
- Anaplasma phagocytophilum (Human granulocytic anaplasmosis)
- Babesia microti (Babesiosis)
- Babesia duncani (Babesiosis)
- Bartonella spp. (Bartonellosis)
- Ehrlichia chafeensis (Human monocytic ehrlichiosis)
- Ehrlichia ewingii (Ehrlichiosis)
- Ehrlichia canis (Ehrlichiosis)
- Coxiella burnetii (Q-fever)
- Francisella tularensis (Tularemia)
We will continue to update our testing options as these diagnostics become available.
